The emkaPACK transmitter can transmit up to eight different parameters:

ecg data - you can use the emkaPACK in one of three configurations, by using the appropriate ecg cable:

  • 1-lead ecg (L1,L2 or L3)
  • 6-lead ecg (L1,L2,L3,aVF,aVR,aVL)
  • 7-lead ecg (L1,L2,L3,aVF,aVR,aVL and 1 unipolar chest lead)

skin temperature

activity - from 3-axis accelerometer

blood pressure (non-invasively) - using an occlusion cuff) (nibp module)

blood pressure (invasively) - using the t-PRESS module in combination with a VAP (vascular access port)

lung volume (using the emkaBELT module)

The emkaPACK runs on two AA/R6 alkaline batteries providing continuous acquisition for an average of 80 hours (of 7-lead ecg and activity data).

ToE (telemetry-over-ethernet) systems use the same emkaPACK transmitter as traditional systems.

Please note: in the ToE configuration, the emkaPACK acquires and transmits ecg and activity signals.

The receiver consists of a mainframe that houses and powers up to 4 or 8 receiver modules (depending on the model). Each receiver module is tuned to a specific frequency, and forms a pair with a specific emkaPACK transmitter.

This is the receiving device of ToE (telemetry-over-ethernet) systems. Each ToE receiver forms a pair with a specific emkaPACK transmitter.

Antennas are connected to the receiver module, directly or via an antenna network.

versatile antenna adapter (VAA)

One or more VAAs combine to form an antenna network, which can be adapted to specific customer needs.

For example, customers often say that they would like to be able to assign each subject to any cage, rather than being restricted to the same cage in every experiment. The antenna network can therefore be adapted to ensure that the signal from a particular emkaPACK - regardless of where it is - always reaches its matching receiver module.
